The ad you're watching likely has the image blown up, and nothing else there for a frame of reference as to size. You might even take a ruler with you to a store that sells beads, just to get a familiarity with the topic.
Designs. You might be considering a beautiful tiger eye bead. And you wish a whole strand of them. Fine, not every bead on the strand will look exactly like the picture. Patterns and pigment might change from bead to bead. Now in my opinion, that is what you require. That's what makes a piece unique and so valuable. But the first time you buy beads online, this might come as a surprise.
